Happy "hacked" New Year 2009

Yes, yes! I know one month has already past, so I'm late.
What kept me busy, you ask?

The server (web and cvs) has been hacked. Not only once but thrice! After spending my time looking for security holes and wading through changelogs I've given up. I switched from a dedicated root server to webhosting only, switched my cvs repository to svn and moved it to xp-dev.com (free subversion hosting, very good!) and moved all the databases and homepage to our glory new domain viplugin.com!

I hope I never have to do this again, because it really sucks. At least my monthly server costs have been reduced dramatically. After this uninteresting work I'm glad I can take my time again to hack on what I love most: viPlugin.

More news later :-)

Out of curiosity, what OS/WebServer combination were you running that was hacked?

And the anwser is:

Debian 4.0 / Apache 2 (always latest version) / PHP 5 and some smaller stuff :-)

That sucks about getting hacked, but I'm glad you were able to a) cut costs and b) simplify the hosting, so you can focus on what you really like doing: coding. Keep up the awesome work!!!

No wonder I could not reach you in any way by trying to send you mails.. just told me they could'nt get delivered, already believed you left us alone ;-)
By the way, only your plugin makes me use eclipse at all, thanks for the effort!!
