Highlighting text objects

Hi,
really great plugin to feel comfortable with Eclipse now.
One feature what I am missing is highlighting text objects. E.g. command vaw (in normal mode), which should visually highlight a word. Instead of the expected vim action, viplugin switches from visual to to append mode when pressing a after v.
Is this a feature or a bug??
