viPlugin 1.18.0

Hello,

viPlugin 1.18.0 has been released. This is the first release where customers had the chance to contribute to this project and 2 have been up to the challenge and commited back to improve the viPlugin for all of us. Many thanks to them.

There is a plugin out there

There is a plugin out there which does exactly what I want – it’s called viPlugin. It integrates with Eclipse and seamlessly emulates VI editing patters exactly like Komodo does. Unfortunately it’s not free. The pleasure of using this plugin will cost you $20.

Redo (control-r) is not working for me either

Test case steps:

1. make a change
2. in command mode, type "u" to undo
3. type "control-r" (control key + r) to redo the undone change -- nothing happens.

Is there a different command key or sequence for "redo"? Has it ever been supported?

I can't submit a bug on

I can't submit a bug on Mantis. I keep getting the following error:

APPLICATION ERROR #401


Database query failed. Error received from database was #2006: MySQL server has gone away for the query: DELETE FROM mantis_email_table
WHERE email_id='1100'.

But anyway, here's what I wanted to submit:

The problem is with vi plugin 1.18 and Eclipse 3.5. vi plugin outputs way too much debug info into the Eclipse error log, and even more if you have Eclipse's "Error Log" view visible in the perspective, vi plugin will always switch to it (give it focus). If you try switching to some other view (like say Bookmarks or Search view), Error Log view will get focus immediately. Basically, you are stuck with Error Log view. The only way you can get around this is to close the Error Log view so it's not shown in the current perspective.


Note that this happens with both Mac OS X, Windows and Eclipse 3.5 (have not tried other OSes and Eclipse versions). The way to reproduce this is to switch to Error Log, clear the current messages and give focus to editor. Start navigating around the code, and you are now effectively stuck in Error Log view. Try switching to some other view and you won't be able to.

Constant writes to the Eclipse error log

I see the same issue (initially reported by mario_grgic) with Eclipse 3.4.1 on Windows XP Professional. I've had to close the error log as I'm unable to work with it open since it constantly steals focus. Not sure if this observation is useful ... but I didn't see this problem for a few days after the initial installation. Things seemed to work ok ... but now, I'm seeing the issue consistently any time the error log view is open.
